Many of today’s products require oil and water emulsions. Emulsions are typically made by adding the oil phase into a tank containing the water phase portion of the product and recirculating this mixture until the emulsion is complete. This takes time, entrains air, and often results in some of the oil phase getting “lost” in a large tank of water phase product.
Many of our clients are finding that they can produce tighter emulsions, in much less time , with little or no air entrainment. Instead of adding the oil phase directly into the tank containing the water phase they are inducting the oil phase in-line into the water phase. This mixture is immediately passed through our DynaShear high speed disperser. The DynaShear instantly creates the emulsion on a single pass and often with a smaller emulsion droplet size than they were able to achieve previously.
