True story. An Admix client had recently accepted a well-deserved Plant Manager position with a new employer. Most products produced in his new plant required fortification with vitamins, minerals, etc. that were only available in powdered form. The current method of fortification required operators to “sprinkle these powders” from 50 lbs bags into a “powder funnel” whose lip was 60″ off the floor.
The “powder funnel” was clamped on a tee located in front of a centrifugal pump. Not only did this cause sore backs and dust clouds, but undissolved powders were always left on the bottom of the destination tanks when emptied. Enter the Fastfeed powder induction and dispersion skid to test in place of the “powder funnel” and pump. You know the rest of the story . . . .Operators were able to add powders to the Fastfeed hopper 37″ off the floor, dust from powder sprinkling was gone, and there were no more undissolved powders in the empty tanks.
The Plant Manager quickly became a hero with his new employer!
