Faster IS better.

We do lots of work in beverage facilities. Here’s an interesting story from this month’s featured customer, a manufacturer of fruit drinks from purees.

Some of this customer’s purees required additional work in two large tanks with high shear top mounted mixers to obtain a smooth puree which would have no sedimentation over time. This was a major pain point for the customer: the process took two hours and caused a significant temperature increase in the purees leading to microbial issues.

We introduced the customer to our DynaShear inline disperser, realizing the potential benefits from changing from the current in-tank approach to an in-line process. A trial DynaShear was installed between the tanks which received the raw purees and the production tanks, totally bypassing the tanks with the high shear mixers.

The customer was able to achieve a smooth puree in just a single pass through the DynaShear. This not only decreased the process time by two hours, but it also saved the company significantly on energy consumption. Additionally, the temperature of the puree did not increase more than 1°C (1.8°F) on the way through the DynaShear to the production tanks.

Long mix times are now a thing of the past, the microbial issues are gone, and the customer is seeing big savings on power consumption. In this case, time is money and faster is better!
